The 11th edition of the Anoumabo Urban Music Festival (Femua) took place from April 17 to 22 in Côte d’ivoire. Back on a first collaboration with SACEM.
In 11 editions, the Femua has declared itself as one of the most important African festivals, and as the biggest francophone festival of contemporary music of the continent. Born in the popular district of Anoumabo, Cradle of the Magic System Group, it was held this year (obligatory success) in the complex of the National Institute of Youth and Sports. The event brought together more than 50 000 people during the week.
The SACEM, partner of the Femua, organised professional meetings (panel and workshops), the SACEM workshops.
For example, about 100 artists and professionals exchanged themes such as copyrights, collective management, career development, management, live or the dematerialisation of media. At the heart of the issues expressed, a need for structuring the sector, especially in terms of training and the Federation of actors to make their voices heard and defend their interests.
The people present welcomed the initiatives of SACEM and hope to be able to continue the collaborations. For Akotchayé Okio, International development Officer/Africa at SACEM, the work with Femua must become « a platform for declining cultural action in the heart of the African continent. » It is an important lever to put in place a development policy, and to show that Sacem is at the service of the creators of the continent.
On April 21 and 22, in the early evening, the Sacem scene also gave a spotlight on emerging artists, such as Jimirye, Nabalum, Zouglou makers, Nelly Juma, Spyrow or succes Nimy. For A’salfo, leader of Magic System and soul of Femua, « This scene gives young artists the opportunity to express themselves live », thus assuring them a high profile in the local music community and with the press.
